Hello everyone,
Thank you all so very much
for your emails, cards and telephone calls during the recent flooding
in our Diocese. It has been horrendous for many thousands of people,
including quite a lot of members. The 'return to home' process is
extremely slow and in Toll Bar and Bentley, (Doncaster area) the flood
water is still in eveidence. Our Summer Council was held on the
Wednesday of the first week of the floods and we started a relief
fund. This will be ongoing for many months to come. After consultation
with Brother Malcolm ( the minister in Bentley/Toll Bar) the MU are
providing toiletries and towels for as long as they are needed. They
will be kept in Bentley Church and Brother Malcolm is delighted to
accept all the help we can give and he is willing to distribute them
to the people who need them.
At the moment he also has a
Church Hall full of clothes for anyone to help themselves to. This is
the situation at the moment in Doncaster, the Sheffield area has
already started much of its clean up and we are also giving the same
help in that area, via an MU member's daughter, (who was one of the
helpers featured on national television.)
John and I leave for Norway
on Sunday and we are really looking forward to 14 days of ooing and
aahing at the fabulous scenery there. Thank you all again for your
thoughts and prayers. All your messages have been relayed to members.
Even the Bishop of Nnewi (one of our links) rang up to ask about the
situation. Your support in prayer has been overwhelming.
